What causes sinusitis in summer?

Sinusitis is a common ailment for many and can be kept in check with certain precautions. In this present article, we shall see some major facts regarding this. There are two types of sinusitis.

Acute sinusitis:

This type of sinusitis appears suddenly and will be present for nearly 3 weeks. This sinusitis is mostly caused due to viruses. Most of the time sinusitis caused by a virus will be reduced in 3 or 4 days. At times even bacterial infection will also lead to this. The common symptoms of acute sinusitis are running nose, cold and sputum in yellow color. Cough can also be noticed.

Chronic sinusitis:

If sinusitis is present for 3 weeks to 3 months then it is known as chronic sinusitis. All the symptoms present in acute sinusitis can also be seen in this type.

Many of us are under the impression that sinusitis prevails only in winters. But actually this is not so. Sinusitis can also attack in summers too. Here let us see the causes of sinusitis in summer.

Climate in summer:

Even warm climate can lead to sinusitis. Sometimes rains in summer season can easily make one fall prey to sinusitis. The sudden changes that take place in climate will affect sinusitis.

Too much travelling:

Too much travelling will expose the body to dust and other sinus causing pollutants and this can be seen more during summer seasons.

Density of population:

The more the population, the more are the chances of being affected with sinus are present. Infections easily spread in summer when the density of population is high. This is also one of the main reasons.

Social gatherings:

According to doctors’ even social gatherings such as marriages and other parties, are also the reasons for sinus. The gathering of the population during such ceremonies will increase the chances of virus and bacterial infection.

Crowded places:

Places such as parks, shopping malls, cinema halls and other congregational places can also be the causes.

Air coolers and air conditioners:

All the appliances used to effect changes in climate can easily lead to sinus. Especially the air coolers, as the water is stored for longer hours. So every care should be taken to change the water as frequently as possible so that the water does not play the role of breeding ground for bacteria and viruses.

Coastal areas:

The humidity in these areas is high and so the chances of allergies are high. This easily leads to infections.

Eating and drinking habits:

Many of us have the habit of eating and drinking cool foodstuffs in summer and this easily leads to sinus. People with the allergenic tendency are more prone when cool stuff is taken. Infections such as allergic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis can easily affect people.
