Sinusitis is a common respiratory problem that affects many people. The changed lifestyle has also been one of the main reasons behind the growth of people falling prey to this disease. There are many causes that lead to this infection. Dust, pets, ability to catch cold and flu soon, some kind of flowers and scents, cool drinks are the reasons behind sinusitis. Sometimes polyps and misshaped nose structure too can cause sinusitis. Even cold climate can lead to sinusitis as the chances to catch cold are increased. When there is cold then the nostrils and nose get blocked which will lead to piling up of bacteria and sinusitis. The other causes are smoke, pollution, climate problems, allergies and humidity in the air.

Symptoms of sinusitis:

The symptoms of it are common and this is where people mistake it with common cold. All in all the following are the signs of it.

  • Blocked nose
  • Headache
  • Sneezes
  • Felling o heaviness in head
  • Swelling in face
  • Running nose
  • Itchiness of nose
  • Cough
  • Ear infections
  • Throat infections
  • Pain and swelling in the sinus area
  • Flow of fluids in to the throat
  • Foul breath
  • Difficulty in breathing

Al the above are the signs of this infection.

Diagnosing sinusitis:

Based on the signs of the patient certain kind of tests such as CT scan, nasal endoscopy, X-Ray, allergy tests and PFT are carried on finally the disease is diagnosed based on the reports.
