A sunscreen is one of those summer skin care products that you absolutely must have. Excessive exposure of the skin to the sun causes premature aging, so it is absolutely essential to slather SPF all over your face and body luxuriously before you step out in the sun and reapply if you’re swimming. It is always advised that you apply the sunscreen on the already moisturized skin about an hour before going out. Broad spectrum sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Use a regular sunscreen (SPF 15-30) if you’re saying driving to the office, inside a car- i.e. when your exposure to the sun is minimum. However, if you’re going to be out on the beach, use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or more.

While you may not feel like applying too much of foundation or makeup during the summers, a lightweight foundation helps to protect your skin from harmful rays of the sun as well as hide the flaws. If a foundation still seems like a complete no-no for you, you can go for a summer skin care cream instead- a tinted moisturizer, BB or CC cream is a good choice. If you don’t like the oily cream feel on your face during the summers, you can also look for a cream that’s water or gel based. These creams have a light watery texture and quickly get absorbed into your skin.

Facial Sprays

Facial sprays are one of the most refreshing and best summer skin care products to carry along in your purse. A little spray on your face can make it look up after a tired day at work. If you’re attending a function, you could just use a blotter to remove the excess oil from your skin before spraying some facial spray to give your makeup a fresh lift!

Waterproof Mascara

Even if you’re not going for a swim, the hot and humid weather can cause regular mascara to smudge easily during summers. Rely on water-proof mascara instead.

Tinted lip balm

Instead of going dark with your lip color, play it light in the summers with a tinted lip balm. It gives your lips a subtle color while keeping them moisturized all day. You could also add some lip color over your lip balm instead for cute looking lips.

Hair masks

Apart from these skin care products that you need during summers, your hair also needs good care. More hours in the swimming pool may seem refreshing, but all the salt and chlorine can be really tough on your hair. Pamper it with a summer hair mask at least once a week. Choose one with argon oil, avocado oil or shea butter for best results.

Large frame sunglasses and a summer hat

Finally, complete your summer look with large frame sunglasses and a summer hat before you step out in the sun. The area around the eyes is the most sensitive to harmful rays of the sun. Protect them with an extra layer of sunscreen and a large frame sunglasses and sun hat.

Aloe Vera

One of the best natural ways to keep your hair and skin feeling fresh and hydrated during the summers is aloe vera. The best way to use aloe vera is to go buy a plant for you and use the gel from freshly scraped leaves on your hair or face.

Choose your skin care products wisely depending upon your skin type. Always go for trusted skin care products brands even if you have to pay a little extra.
