Jicama recipes for health

Jicama also called as yam bean is one of the tastiest vegetables that can come handy as it can be used in many forms such as salads and cooked items. Here we shall see different Jicama recipes to make.

Jicama flatbread:

Ingredients needed:

•    2 cups of Jicama pieces (peel the skin before cutting into pieces)

•    Dry chilies-4

•    ½ cup of Bengal gram flour

•    Required amount of oil and salt

•    1 teaspoon of cumin seeds

Preparation method:

•    Soak Bengal gram flour in water for 30 minutes

•    Grind the Jicama in a blender

•    Take the Jicama paste in a strainer and clean with water and strain the water if any and keep aside

•    Mix all the above things now and grind to some extent

•    Take oil in a round pan and pour the mix as you pour to make any kind of flatbread

•    Close a lid and allow it to get heated for minute

•    Now change the side of the bread and allow it to stay for 1 minute and it is ready for eating.

Yam bean chips:

Ingredients needed:

•    1/4th kilo of bean chips

•    Required amount of salt

•    1 teaspoon of chili powder

•    2 teaspoons of oil

Preparation method:

•    Peel the skin of the yam beans and cut into slices

•    Take oil in a wide open sauce pan

•    Allow the oil to get heated

•    Now place yam bean slices

•    Fry them well and add chili and salt

Jicama Chinese spinach curry:

Ingredients needed:

•    ½ kilo of Jicama

•    4 bands of Chinese spinach

•    1 teaspoon of garlic paste

•    2 teaspoons of lemon juice

•    1 teaspoon of green chili paste

•    2 strands of curry leaves

•    1 teaspoon of mustard seeds paste

•    Pinch of asafetida

•    Pinch of turmeric powder

•    4 teaspoons of oil

•    Required amount of oil

•    1 teaspoon of cumin seeds

•    4 green chilies

•    1 teaspoon of black gram

•    1 teaspoon of mustard seeds

Preparation method:

•    Peel the skin of Jicama and cut into pieces

•    Clean the Chinese spinach

•    Take both of the above in a pressure cooker and boil them till you get 4 whistles

•    Grind them and keep aside

•    Take oil in a pan and add all the ingredients except paste things listed above and fry them. Leave Jicama-Chinese spinach paste should not be added

•    Now take all the pastes and fry them

•    After two minutes add lemon juice and keep aside
