If you are using a Smartphone, you can’t be unaware of the term Android that has revolutionized the world of mobile technology with its features and quality. Recently Google has taken an initiative to provide a good Android experience to the users at a low cost. To do so, they have created a list of standard competitive specifications with the help of which, any Indian manufacturer can build affordable smartphones, with the latest hardware needed for the same. Named as Android One, these devices can run stock android and receive latest updates directly from Google, with a provision for adding own apps by the vendors. In India, three vendors namely Micromax, Spice and Karbonn have collaborated with Google to build Android One handsets. The three companies have introduced 3 handsets namely Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream Uno, and Karbonn Sparkle V respectively in the market recently for all categories of customers.
Android One phones v/s Android smartphones:
The most important difference between the two is that the former OS is tailor-made by none other than Google which can be easily visible in these handsets. Users claim to be experiencing a fluidic experience with minimum hardware in Android One device, without any hassles. Google will choose both the software as well as the hardware for you, and will also directly involve for giving timely updates. Simple Android phones use AOSP for hardware customization and for every other thing you have to depend on the vendor
Features of the Android One Phones
As specified by Google, all these phones use very modest hardware and they run on Android 4.4 Kitkat version of the OS with a 4.5 inch screen and a simple resolution of 854×480 pixels. The advanced quad-core processor with a 1 GB RAM and a 4 GB of internal storage clubbed with a microSD card can give you some relief when it comes to the features of the smartphones. They come with 5 MP rear camera with Flash and 2 MP front camera, both of them work better if not the best. The battery backup is quite impressive, and you can be rest assured of regular surfing, social media apps, IM’s, chats and playing games at ease with these devices. All three come within INR 6500 which is good news when it comes to being pocket-friendly when launched in the Indian market.
What Google expects from Android One?
As per the financial experts, Android One is surely Goggle’s effort to draw Indian economy much towards its favor, in the long run. Since the cost of the phones is lesser with roughly same specifications of a high-end Android Phone, people will be keen to purchase that and that’s good news for the company when a margin is concerned. They also have plans to launch the project in countries like Indonesia, Philippines, and other similar countries, which are coming up with substantial growth in the technological field in near future. Android One devices will surely be one of the biggest players in these markets with their enhanced security features, smarter notifications and improved battery life –as forecasted by Google CEO recently.
