3 natural remedies to cure toenail fungus

Toenail fungus has become common ailment for the foot nails. Infection of nail can affect fingernails and toenails; however toenail infection is more common. Few of the causes that can lead to toenail fungus are too much sweating, staying in humid climate, wearing shoes and socks that obstruct ventilation and also don’t soak up perspiration and psoriasis. Some more general causes include walking barefoot in moist places like gyms, shower rooms, swimming pools, athlete’s foot, minor nail or skin injury surrounding the nail, injured nail or any other infection, diabetes, weak immune system, problems associated with circulation. One common symptom associated with toenail infection is, the nail turns discolored and also becomes thickened. With increasing infection the nail may become fragile. Here are natural remedies to cure toenail fungus.

1) Hydrogen Peroxide and Apple Cider Vinegar:

Vinegar has been an option for nail fungus treatment since ages. To cure toenail fungus add vinegar to water and soak the infected feet in it for minimum half an hour. Repeat the process two times in a day to kill toe fungus. As per studies the acidic properties present in vinegar will balance the Ph levels in nails and assist in calming down the uneasiness caused by toenail fungus. Though we can use many types of vinegar, apple cider vinegar is best to use due to its effectiveness. Dab apple cider vinegar in cotton and use it on nail directly but be sure that vinegar sticks on infected nail for good time. Apple cider vinegar is a good astringent and anti-fungal agent. It reduces pain and inflammation associated with few fungal infection stages. Using vinegar along with hydrogen peroxide will be good in treating toenail fungus.

2) Tea Tree Essential Oil:

The recent studies have shown that using tea tree oil on toenail and finger nail infections cured the problem to most extent. Some studies have also shown that using it has cured nail infections to the root. Following many months of trails, doctors have found that using this essential oil was nothing less to using normal topical antifungal lotions or creams. So isn’t it good move to use tea tree oil that is very effective in place of artificial ointments. Use this oil on the effected nails two times in a day for two months minimum. It may take much time in treating the toenail but the result is definite and effective.

3) Baking Soda:

This is highly alkaline in nature and so applying it on the infected foot will balance the pH levels and make it difficult for bacteria and fungi to breed.

Take 2 parts of baking soda and 1 part of water and make paste mixing these two well. Apply the infected part with this paste by using a cotton dab, allow the paste to stay for minimum 10 minutes and clean it off and pat dry. Repeat the process two times a day till the fungus goes off. It may usually take nearly 2 weeks for complete cure.
